The FRSC has warned its officers against collecting bribes in the course of their duties at the gridlocked area in Apapa. See what will happen to faulting officers!

Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) deployed to manage the highly publicized Apapa Gridlock in Lagos State have been warned to avoid corrupt practices such as collecting bribe as those found wanting will be dismissed from service.

Spokesman of the FRSC, Mr Bisi Kazeem gave the warning in Lagos, stating that their personnel are aware of the zero tolerance of corrupt activities in the FRSC. Officers involved in such activities would face a disciplinary committee. Anyone found guilty would be issued summary dismissal.

“That is why we still do surveillance on our own. We don’t leave the monitoring to the committee. We have a role to make sure that our men don’t take part in any corruption tendencies,” he said.

The congested traffic along Apapa road

Addressing newsmen after attending a meeting which had other traffic agencies in attendance, Kazeem said that the FRSC was collaborating with the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) and some security agencies in an effort to create free human and vehicular movements in the congested Apapa area.

According to the spokesman, the clearing up will not obstruct movements; commuters will be able to go about their daily activities while the work is being done.

“The clearance of the Apapa gridlock is a work in progress. A lot of work has been put in place. The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing is superintending over it to ensure that all relevant agencies especially as it concerns traffic control are mobilized,” Kazeem added.
