The Preaching against Ear Rings and Wigs How Right Is It?

The Preaching against Ear Rings and Wigs How Right Is It?

Ear Ring And Wig:
Ear Rings, Wigs And Eyelashes Ear rings, wigs, eyelashes and many other beauty objects are the kind of things so many preachers frown at. These preachers consider it as an abominable act, an indication that God distaste these beauty objects. Ear rings, wigs and eyelashes are unacceptable by God as many that put them on are liable to go to hell fire. This statement is buttressed by so many videos people share on social media outlets. In their testimonies, they confirm that in their visions, they saw people putting on ear rings, wigs and eyelashes in hell fire. And many of these visionaries have penetrated the church with their testimonies.

As a result of this, their messages are widely accepted and people believe them. The question is this, is there anything wrong with putting on ear rings, wigs and eyelashes? Well before we can answer this question, we should understand that the umpire of every doctrinal dispute is the scripture. Therefore, whatever the scripture says as regards to ear rings, wigs and eyelashes is final. First of all, the indictment as regards to ear rings, wigs and eyelashes are on believers. The judgment is that every believer that put on ear rings, wigs and eyelashes will go to hellfire.

Ear Rings And Wigs Are Not Condition For salvation:
The point to consider is the fact that salvation is not earned. And also, mode of dressing is not the prerequisite for salvation. Again inasmuch as is not the condition for salvation it should not be the condition for keeping it. The condition for keeping must be the condition for receiving. Let’s see from the scripture the condition for being saved below.

“That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:15-16

The only condition stated in the above verses is believe, so whosoever that believes in Christ is saved. And whosoever that does not believe in Him is not saved according the verse below.

“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

John 3:18

Therefore, salvation comes by believing in Christ and condemnation comes by not believing in Him. The implication of this statement above is that no one is saved because he opted not to put on ear rings, wigs and eyelashes. Therefore, these beauty objects are not the condition and should not be the condition to retain salvation. And important to say is the fact that if putting on gold, silver and many other beauty objects is wrong then God shouldn’t have allowed Solomon to beautify the temple with these materials.

The Physical Temple Adorns:
Let’s see what the verses below have to say to us.

“So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold. And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.”

1 Kings 6:21-22

However, come to think of it, this temple adorned with gold, silver and many more is just the physical temple made with hands. Hence, it’s not a sin that the temple made by the Holy Spirit should be adorned with these materials. The point is that putting on or not putting on ear rings, wigs and eyelashes does not determine if one is saved or not. The reality is that one may decide not to put on ear rings, wigs and eyelashes and yet not saved. This implies that, that one dresses holier than thou is not a guarantee that he or she is saved. And in the same vein, that one put on ear rings, wigs and eyelashes does not imply that he or she is not saved.

Ear Rings, Wigs And Eyelashes The Hypocrisy:
Again, many are of the view that these objects are very expensive and shouldn’t draw the attention of believers. This statement portrays hypocrisy at the highest level. Evidence on ground has reviewed that many believers including men of God nowadays parade expensive cars. The alloyed wheels on these cars can purchase thousands of gold ear rings, thousands of wigs and eyelashes. And yet many of these churches are not allowed to put on ordinary gold ear rings on their ears.

However, this article is not an avenue to promote the use of materials like ear rings, wigs and eyelashes among believers. The reason is that these things don’t count and shouldn’t be things to the believers should put their hearts on. Apostle Peter in one of his epistles puts it this way;

“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price”

1 Peter 3:3

The Yardstick Is Not The Outward Looks:

The outward looks of the believers shouldn’t be the yardstick to evaluate them because the looks of people are a matter of choice. One may appear rich but in reality he’s poor and vice versa. The adorning of the heart is what matters and should be the parameter to evaluate believers. Therefore, the preaching against ear rings, wigs and eyelashes is outside the right gospel. The gospel to preach is not these material things but Christ.
