1. FACE TO FACE EVANGELISM:
The list is not written according to a particular order but this one is the most important. This type of evangelism is very common to the Jehovah Witnesses and a few churches
Face to face evangelism is very useful because it allows the preacher to see the person he or she is reaching out to, see their actions, see if they are responding well, seek their opinions and read their emotions.
2. PREACHING IN PUBLIC TRANSPORTS:
This form of evangelism is somehow rude. Why? Because most preachers don’t ask the permission of other passengers to preach before doing so; they just go on preaching as if they own the transport. But if permission is given, it is also useful as the passengers may even seek the preacher for further meetings.
3. STREET PREACHING:
This can be done in the morning, afternoon or evening. Many people are involved in this. It is not very advisable unless the street is lined with shops and full of people. There are many cases of people preaching on expressways where one or even no one is passing by. You then wonder who they are preaching to. Is it to the mosquitoes flying by or ants? But when there are people around, it is very useful.
4. TV EVANGELISM:
This involves preaching the gospel on TV stations. It has been misused though as many churches use the opportunity to show their population and how handsome or beautiful or well-dressed the pastors are. Most times, what the pastors preach about is prosperity and success, instead of repentance and salvation. Also, since the Nigerian electricity is wacky, very few people switch channels to the preaching unless they are church members. People rather prefer to listen to hip hop music videos.
5. RADIO EVANGELISM:
This is just like the TV evangelism minus the showing of images. The problem with this is the language barrier as many may not understand the language used unless an interpreter is involved. Anyway, people would rather prefer hip hop music playing radio stations.
6. PAPER EVANGELISM:
This could be in form of magazines or tracts. Most times, people just ignore them as they prefer to read Complete Sports or others. Language barrier is also a problem here.
7. SOCIAL MEDIA EVANGELISM:
This is supposed to do a lot as many people are involved with it; unfortunately, many Christians don’t use it to advantage. People who preach on Social Media usually have less friends and most times, they are afraid of losing Facebook friends.
It is supposed to be an opportunity for fellowship and church workers to preach the gospel, but instead of doing so, they prefer to post their own pictures.
8. CHARACTER EVANGELISM:
Action, they say, speak louder than words. The characters of people speak volumes. People can use their characters to preach the gospel. Through love, kindness and tolerance, the characteristics of Jesus himself, sinners can come to Christ.
Preaching can be in form of stories, music, speeches, tete-a-tete, dramas and so on.
Summarily, if you call yourself a Christian and you don’t partake in any of these types of evangelism, you need to change your orientation.
